Biography

Eusebio Ochoa Eusebio Ochoa Isaza (2 October 1880 – 24 September 1955) was a Colombian musician and composer of pasillos and bambucos. In July 1910 he recorded in New York with the ensemble La Lira Antioqueña for the Columbia Phonograph Company; the sessions included a version of the Colombian national anthem often described in Colombia as the anthem's first phonographic recording. His best-known composition is the bambuco "El profesor de canto". He later taught at the Institute of Fine Arts of Medellín, where he became dean of the teaching staff.
